Parent Training & Seminars
America’s Special Kidz (A.S.K.) works very closely with parents to understand the challenges they face in caring for their children with special needs. Our close alliance enables us to help equip them with the resources they need to help their sons and daughters develop to their full potential.
According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), recent estimates in the United States show that about one in six, or about 15%, of children aged 3 through 17 years have one or more developmental disabilities. Developmental disabilities are a group of conditions due to an impairment in physical, learning, language or behavior areas. These conditions begin during the developmental period. They may impact day-to-day functioning and usually last throughout a person’s lifetime.
To assist families, we offer training workshops and seminars.
The topics we cover include the following:
- How to overcome choking and gagging
- Proper nutrition and feeding techniques for children
- Utilizing effective tools to educate visual and auditory learners
- How to discern whether a child is an unruly teen or has special needs
- Proper ways to make your home safe for children and adults with disabilities
- Fire safety for all individuals with special needs (featuring safety products for the blind and hearing impaired)
- How to effectively collaborate with your child’s teacher and therapists
